A NEW SONG

“The LORD gave me a new song to sing, a song of praise to our God. Many people will see this and be amazed, and they will trust the LORD.” ~ Psalm 40:3 (CEV)

Have you ever worked hard to impress people, only to feel empty the moment the excitement faded? We live in a world that tells us success means getting attention, collecting compliments, or standing under the spotlight. But chasing the world's applause is like trying to catch smoke—it disappears almost as soon as you reach for it.

Many of us spend years using our talents just to get noticed. Whether it's performing on a stage, striving at work, or trying to stand out in our social circles, it is easy to believe that if enough people cheer for us, we will finally feel complete. But no matter how loud the crowd gets, the feeling never lasts. As soon as the moment passes, that quiet emptiness comes right back.

Real fulfillment doesn't come from getting people to look at us; it comes from using our gifts to point people to God. When we shift our focus from seeking praise to sharing God's love, everything changes. God takes our abilities—whether in music, speaking, serving, or everyday encouragement—and gives them a brand-new purpose.

When you let God guide your life, He puts a "new song" in your heart. You stop performing to prove your worth and start living out of gratitude. People around you will notice the difference. They will see a steady joy in you that doesn't depend on crowd approval, and it will inspire them to put their trust in God too.

This week, take a moment to look at a talent or skill you have. Instead of using it to gain attention or praise for yourself, find one practical way to use that gift to serve someone else or bring encouragement to their day.
