Do you remember being a kid and waiting for Christmas? The weeks before were filled with so much excitement! You'd see presents appear under the tree, shake them, try to guess what was inside. It felt like you might burst with anticipation! You knew those gifts were picked just for you. And when you finally got to rip open the wrapping paper, you were so happy with what you found. There were things you wished for and even some amazing surprises. Your parents knew exactly how to make you smile.
Well, guess what? Someone else knows how to make you even happier! God gives us even more perfect gifts. The Bible says in James 1:17, "Every good present and every perfect gift comes from above, from the Father who made the sun, moon, and stars." Just think about that for a second. The same God who created the giant sun, the glowing moon, and all the twinkling stars also gives you good things!
And here's the best part: God never changes. The Bible also says in James 1:17 that "The Father doesn’t change like the shifting shadows produced by the sun and the moon." Shadows change throughout the day, right? But God's love and His desire to give you good gifts never, ever change. He's always there, always loving, always giving.
Matthew 7:11 tells us, "Even though you’re evil, you know how to give good gifts to your children. So how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?" If even we, who aren't perfect, know how to give good presents, imagine how much more amazing God's gifts are!
What "presents" has God already given you? Maybe it's your family, your friends, a special talent, or a beautiful sunset. Imagine Him happily planning these gifts, excited to see your reaction. And He's not done yet! Just like you looked forward to Christmas as a child, you can look forward to what God has in store for you, His precious child. Spend time with Him each day, and let yourself get excited about the perfect gifts He's preparing just for you. The best part is, these presents from God don't just come once a year.
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for using the same amazing power that created the heavens to craft wonderful presents just for me. These gifts are even better than I can imagine. Thank You for always being faithful and perfect in showing me Your love. Thank you for...
REFLECTION: Can you think of a gift God surprised you with that you may have overlooked? How can you start looking for God's "perfect presents" in your everyday life?
