“Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’ ... ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.’” - John 4:13-14, 29

In the ancient world, drawing water was a social event, typically done in the cool mornings or evenings. To walk to the well in the blazing heat of the midday sun meant one thing: you were trying to avoid being seen. You were hiding from the whispers, the sideways glances, and the weight of judgment.

For many of us, our "midday sun" isn't a physical desert; it’s a quiet, isolating space where we try to keep our distance from others—and even from God.

Like the woman Jesus met at the well in John chapter 4, we often find ourselves trying to satisfy a deep, internal thirst in places that always leave us empty. We search for security, worth, or peace in things that don't last, only to find ourselves walking back to the same wells, carrying the same heavy baggage. We wear masks and keep our distance, terrified that if people really knew the truth about our struggles, they would walk away.

This is why the story of the woman at the well is so incredibly powerful. It is a story that mirrors Sandy’s own journey of redemption.

While the specific details of Sandy's life are unique, the underlying heartbeat of her story is one that many of us share: the transition from hiding in the shadows to stepping into the light of grace. She knows what it is like to search for fulfillment, to feel the weight of the past, and to wonder if true acceptance is possible.

But Jesus has a way of showing up at the exact wells we use to hide.

When Jesus met the Samaritan woman, He didn't start with a lecture or a list of demands. He met her right where she was, broke through every social barrier, and offered her "living water." He revealed that He knew every detail of her life—and yet, He still stood there offering her a fresh start.

He fully knew her, and He fully loved her.

When we finally stop running and bring our brokenness to Jesus, we discover that His response is never rejection; it is always grace. He offers us a love that actually satisfies the hunger in our souls.

The woman at the well was so transformed by her encounter with Jesus that she left her water jar behind, ran back to the very town she had been hiding from, and shouted, "Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did!" This week, Sandy is stepping forward to share her own story of redemption. By letting us into her journey, she is dropping her water jar and pointing us to the Savior who meets us in our mess and makes us clean. You don't have to carry your past or hide in the shadows anymore. The invitation to drink from the well of living water is open to you today.

Consider joining a small group table or reaching out to a trusted friend where you can begin to step out of isolation and experience the healing power of community.
