“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Happy are the people who take refuge in him!” (Psalm 34:8, CEB)

There is a specific kind of electric energy that happens right before a dinner party. The food is in the oven, the lights are dimmed, the table is set, and the host is watching the door, waiting for the first knock. It is a feeling of pure anticipation.

Why? Because we know that something special happens when people gather to eat.

Next week, our church crosses a major threshold. We are launching ConnectDinners Dinner Church. We aren't just opening the doors to a building; we are opening our lives to our neighbors. We are setting a table for our community because we believe that shared meals invite all walks of life to connect in authentic fellowship.

Moving from Theory to Experience For a long time, we have talked about the importance of community. But Psalm 34:8 doesn't say "Think and agree that the Lord is good." It says, "Taste and see."

Goodness isn't a theory; it is an experience. You can’t taste a meal by reading a recipe, and you can’t fully experience the Body of Christ by sitting alone in a row. You have to pull up a chair. You have to pass the bread. You have to look someone in the eye.

What to Expect Next Week When we gather next week, we are creating space for three things:

  • Radical Welcome: It doesn't matter your background or your story. We choose compassion over criticism.
  • Deep Connection: We are moving past small talk to connections that flow from God's love.
  • Holy Moments: We believe God is going to show up in the breaking of bread to open hearts and inspire transformation.

The table is set. The preparation is done. God is ready to do a new thing in our midst. The only thing missing is you.

Reflection: As we stand one week away from this new beginning, what are you most excited to "taste and see" God do in our community?

Prayer: God of the Feast, thank You for inviting us to Your table. My heart is full of anticipation for what You are going to do next week. I pray for every person who will walk through our doors—that they would feel Your Radical Welcome. Help me to be a gracious host and a hungry guest, ready to taste and see Your goodness. Amen.

The wait is almost over! Do you have questions about the launch next week? Let’s chat. Text Pastor Vic at 509-919-1897.
