Have you ever laid awake at night, staring at the ceiling while your mind raced through every worst-case scenario? That heavy, knot-in-your-stomach feeling of panic is something almost all of us know too well. But what if obsessing over tomorrow is actually stealing the life you have today?
Jesus understood what it felt like to deal with real-life stress. When he spoke to crowds of ordinary people, he looked at folks who were exhausted, overwhelmed, and wondering how they would afford their next meal or pay their bills. He didn't give them empty cheerleader phrases or act like their problems didn't matter. Instead, he pointed to the natural world around them.
He asked them to look up at the wild birds flying in the sky. Birds don't plant crops or store food in warehouses, yet God makes sure they are fed every day. Then he pointed to the wildflowers growing in the grass. They don't make their own clothes, yet they are dressed in more beauty than any rich king. Jesus made a simple point: if God cares so much for birds and wild grass, think about how much more he cares for you. You matter deeply to Him.
Jesus also asked a powerful question: Can worry add a single minute to your life? The truth is, panic gives us zero control over what happens next. It just steals our strength for today. God already knows everything you need. Instead of trying to fix tomorrow before it even gets here, focus on trusting God and doing what is right today. When you put Him first, you can breathe easy knowing your future is in His hands.
This week, write down the single biggest thing that is causing you stress. Put that note somewhere you can see it, and every time your mind starts to panic about it, take a deep breath and consciously hand that problem over to God.
