Pastor's Report - June 2026
June 12, 2026

Dear Church Board,

The month of May brought a deeper sense of grounding and spiritual depth to our weekly rhythm. As we shared life around our tables this past month, we watched our community continue its transition from a weekly dinner event into a true spiritual family. The Holy Spirit is clearly moving in our midst, transforming our dining tables into sacred sanctuaries where neighbors feel safe, seen, and valued. We are leaning heavily into our core identity as a dinner church, establishing an environment where deep communal belonging naturally paves the way for spiritual transformation.

Ministry Highlights & Wins

  • Holidays at the Table:
    • Ladies Day: For Mother's Day, we chose to celebrate "Ladies Day," honoring all ladies at our tables. We did not want to isolate mothers or overlook women who cannot or choose not to bear children. Instead, we celebrated the full spectrum of womanhood in our community, including honoring our grandmothers, great-grandmothers, and the younger ladies who may someday be mothers.
    • Memorial Day: For Memorial Day, we honored those who placed their lives on the line to allow us the freedom we love. We recognized the families of those who have lost loved ones while they were serving in the military, and we acknowledged and prayed for those who have suffered life-changing physical and/or mental injuries protecting our freedom.

  • My Story Monday: We experienced our second "My Story Monday" this month.  David stood before our community to share his powerful redemptive testimony. David shared, “If God wants you in prison, no man can keep you out. But if God wants you out of prison, there is no man that can keep you in.” He encouraged listeners to never stop praying for those who are far from Jesus and that there is nothing in our lives that God’s grace cannot overcome.

  • A Hunger for Scripture: At some of our tables, the conversations are shifting from simple social updates to deep spiritual inquiries. One neighbor has stepped forward offering to assist in leading a Men's Bible Study. Additionally, several other neighbors have explicitly asked for a deeper dive into Scripture and are highly anticipating our New Believers Bible Study, which we plan to launch on Tuesday evenings this July.

  • Ownership & Belonging: The health of our community is shining through in highly practical ways. A dedicated group of neighbors now regularly stays late after the meal to help our serve team completely clean up the space. Additionally, we are thrilled to report that several of our core serve team members have officially found their permanent church home right here at ConnectDinners.

  • Street Ministry Callings: We continue our faithful weekly street food delivery to our unhoused neighbors. Through this consistent street outreach, one neighbor has acknowledged a deep, personal call towards ministry. We are actively walking alongside her to help her process, learn, and discover what this calling means.

  • Survey Results & Spiritual Fruit: We recently conducted a community survey to assess our spiritual impact. The results were incredibly encouraging: we discovered that 4 individuals have formally re-committed their lives to Christ around our tables. Combined with our prior milestones, this brings our verified historical impact to 3 new Christians, 4 re-commitments, and 3 baptisms since our ministry launched.

*Note: On May 25, our team was so deeply engrossed in David's redemptive testimony that we forgot to count our seated guests and take-away boxes. We did, however, faithfully deliver 24 meals directly to the street of the 100 prepared servings.

Challenges & Strategic Adjustments

As a Board, we have initiated a comprehensive structural review of all our operational systems. Our strategy over the next few months is to consistently evaluate every moving part of our evenings, making simple, tactical adjustments to constantly improve our execution. We implemented three primary shifts this month:

  • Meal Service Personalization: Our initial goal has always been to provide personal connection in all we do, including our buffet service. Recently, we noticed a subtle slide toward the institutionalization of the buffet service rather than keeping it true to an invitation to our home dinner table. To correct this, we have restructured our service. Members of our serve team now greet each neighbor by name, share what is available, and serve the plates directly, shifting the focus back to establishing immediate, warm personal connections.

  • Plate vs. Take-Away Box Distribution: We noticed that some neighbors were distracted during our table conversations because they were anxious to secure take-away food. To alleviate this and prioritize community, we adjusted our protocol. We now serve all initial meals and additional helpings strictly on standard plates. Take-away boxes are kept out of sight and are distributed after the Jesus Story discussion time has fully concluded.

  • Music Space Optimization: Our worship team noted that they felt a bit physically constrained during services. We implemented a simple adjustment by moving our cloth-covered room divider back about 5 feet. This successfully opened up the platform area, giving our musicians the room they need to lead effectively.

Financial & Administrative Updates

  • Discipleship Grant Application: I have submitted an application for the $500 "Become Christlike Disciples" grant. The purpose of this grant is simple: to support creative ministries that help people grow in their faith by launching or expanding outreach efforts that engage the community and introduce people to the hope of the gospel. I applied for funding to expand our sound system to improve our ability to hear the gospel presentation clearly. The new sound pieces are entirely wireless and do not rely on traditional plug-in power, which keeps us aligned with our continued desire to be mobile. Additionally, the application includes ConnectDinners funding the purchase of a portable battery power source that is capable of powering our entire sound system when we go mobile. It will also allow for us to provide portable charging stations at those locations.

Old Business & Ongoing Initiatives

  • DCSL Cohort and Ongoing Growth: I completed the second semester of the Dinner Church School of Leadership (DCSL) taught by Verlon Fosner. Because I originally started mid-class, I will re-join DCSL this coming September to complete the first semester classes. DCSL has been an invaluable learning and growth opportunity for me as we navigate our weekly rhythms.

  • Dinner Church Leaders Course Launch: A core challenge within the DCSL curriculum is to step up as leaders within our industry. From the moment God placed the call for dinner church on my heart, sharing with and helping others launch their own expressions of dinner church has been an integral part of that calling. In obedience to this, I felt called to offer my own Dinner Church Leaders course. This 12-class course will be conducted via Zoom over a 9-month period. I am thrilled to report that we currently have 10 district leaders signed up to attend, representing 8 distinct locations across our district. This represents an incredible opportunity to expand the dinner church model across our region.

Respectfully submitted,

Pastor Victor Morrison
