The forecast called for rain, but that didn't stop us from gathering. We had planned for one last dinner under the open sky, but the threat of rain forced us inside a month early. Good food and great company feels like home, no matter the location!
While we didn't see any substantial growth from last month, we were thrilled to welcome more new neighbors to the table than ever before. It was a beautiful sight to see new friendships forming alongside the familiar faces of regulars who have been with us every single month. Our neighbors continue to come together, initiating and strengthening friendships.
We ate well! This month’s menu featured cheesy baked spaghetti, a fresh Caesar salad, and tasty homemade garlic focaccia bread. For dessert, we all enjoyed a variety of ice cream bars—a perfect treat to end a great meal.
During our time together, Pastor Vic shared his vision for our community. Starting January 19th, our monthly gatherings will officially transition to weekly Dinner Church meetings. The heart of our time will remain the same—a shared meal and authentic friendship. We'll simply be adding a brief children's story before the kids move to their own special kids' time, followed by a short, 7-10 minute story from Scripture to spark conversation at our tables.
The spirit of hospitality didn't end when the tables were cleared. After everything was cleaned up, Pastor Vic was able to deliver 16 meals of abundance, including ice cream bars, to our homeless neighbors in downtown Spokane. Another reflection of our core value to love our neighbors.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We can't wait to see you on October 27th as we once again gather with our neighbors to share a meal, build community and show God's love!
